New Testament Church of God Luton is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of everyone who is part of our church family and everyone who comes into contact with us. We believe that every child, young person and adult has the right to be safe, to be treated with respect, and to be protected from harm, abuse and neglect.

Our commitment

As a church we are committed to:

• creating a safe and welcoming environment for children, young people and adults at risk,
• following our safeguarding policy and good safeguarding practice in everything we do,
• recruiting workers and volunteers safely, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate,
• making sure those who work with children or adults at risk are trained and supported,
• responding quickly and appropriately to any concern, allegation or disclosure,
• working openly with the statutory authorities, including the local authority and the police.

Reporting a concern

If you are worried that a child or an adult is being harmed or is at risk of harm, please tell someone. You can speak to our Safeguarding Officer:

You do not have to be certain that something is wrong to raise a concern. If you are worried, please speak up.

In an emergency

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call the police on 999 straight away. You do not need to speak to us first.

Our safeguarding policy

NTCG Luton has adopted its own written safeguarding policy, which sets out how we protect children, young people and adults at risk and how we respond to concerns. The policy is reviewed regularly and is available on request from our Safeguarding Officer.

Safer recruitment

Everyone who works with children, young people or adults at risk on behalf of the church is recruited safely. This includes an application and interview, references, and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the appropriate level, together with ongoing support and training.

Adults at risk

Safeguarding is not only about children. We are equally committed to protecting adults who may be at risk of harm because of their circumstances, and we treat any concern about an adult with the same care and seriousness.
